Where it all began....

It’s sometimes strange to think we’ve been together for over half of our lives on this planet. When we first started dating, Chris’s family had property and waterfront on Lake Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. We would spend all our weekends and summer holidays there. Our days were filled with skiing, wakeboarding, surfing and romantic evening boat rides. We taught our two boys how to wakeboard there. We all loved being on the water.

A couple of years after our wedding, we found the house we now call home. The thought of living on a lake seemed like a dream come true. It was a log-sided cabin in the middle of a forest with a red metal roof. It had no yard, no garage, no landscaping, but it was a house with lake frontage. That’s all that mattered to us.

The waterfront at that time was all bog. There was no dock, no yard and no beach. In March we moved in. Then spent the spring and summer months that year clearing away the bog to reveal a beautiful sandy beach. Next year we built the dock. Every spring there would be a challenge to see who the first family member to jump off the dock. It was usually one of the boys. We’d like to think we were too smart to jump in frigid water just to say we were the first.

Our Life at the Lake had begun.
